
Night from April 11 to April 12, 2017 Orenburg International Airport named after Y.A. Gagarin together with the team of the Orenburg astronomical club "Orion" held a festive event dedicated to Cosmonautics Day.

Participation conditions:
- Free admission.
- Astronomers gather at 11:00.
- If the weather is unfavorable, the event is postponed (information about this is announced in advance).

Observations:
- Full Moon: participants were able to see craters up to 20 km in diameter.
- Jupiter at opposition: the planet was visible in all its glory - 4 satellites, 5 stripes and the Great Red Spot.
- The opportunity to capture the Moon and Jupiter in one frame (for photographers).
Equipment:
- Synta Sky-Watcher Dob 10": a computerized telescope with a primary mirror diameter of 254 mm.
- Additional telescopes with mirror diameters of 150 mm and 130 mm.
Event results
On the night of April 11-12, 2017, more than 60 people gathered at the square at the entrance to the Orenburg International Airport named after Yuri Gagarin to celebrate Cosmonautics Day and observe the starry sky.
Observations:
- Moon: participants were able to discern details of the lunar surface, including craters up to 20 km in diameter.
- Jupiter: the planet was in opposition, which allowed it to be observed as closely and brightly as possible. Four satellites, 5 stripes and the Great Red Spot were visible.
- Photographers took unique pictures, capturing the Moon and Jupiter in one frame.
Features:
- There were 3 telescopes operating at the site, which were available to everyone.
- Participants of the event had the opportunity not only to observe celestial objects, but also to learn more about them from members of the Orion astronomical club.
