Astrovist Results
Despite the cold and wind, about 70 astronomy enthusiasts came to Gorun! We talked about why astronomy is needed and what variety of objects exist in our Universe.
A clear cloudless night allowed us to see the spring-summer constellations. Sergey Medvedev taught the participants how to navigate by the stars and told several beautiful legends. Double stars and star clusters were observed through telescopes. Jupiter rose above the horizon closer to midnight. Although it was low, its satellites were clearly visible, and some participants were able to see atmospheric bands.
Around 23:00, we observed the ISS flyby, and at 00:05, the SpaceX Starlink satellites flew by. It was a mesmerizing sight: 60 bright dots floated one after another along the horizon!
Thank you to all the participants! Next time, we hope, the weather will be warmer, which will allow us to calmly observe through telescopes until late at night. See you at the next astro-rides!
